Also known as “The Professor”, Howard Lederer is one of the most important face of the Team Full Tilt. He has been very instrumental in the development of Full Tilt Poker and the success and popularity that the room has achieved.

Born in Concord, New Hampshire, USA in 1964,he is the son of well-known American author, teacher and linguist, Richard Lederer. His parents who encouraged that as a family activity introduced Howard to card games.

His first passion was Chess and he moved to New York to pursue the game after completing high school. Here, he was introduced to the game of poker again and soon chess took the backseat. Howard became a full time poker player but had a string of losses during this period.

Soon, Howard Lederer got to know about Mayfair Club ( essentially a Backgammon and Bridge club) and became a part of it. He along with many other players started playing and analyzing the game of No Limit Texas Holdem. This elite group of poker players which included Dan Harrington, Erik Seidel, Steve Zolotow, Jay Heimowitz etc would play poker all day and then go to a bar to discuss the day’s game and strategy.

In 1993, Howard Lederer decided to move to Las Vegas in search of higher stake games as he had outgrown the stakes in New York. At Vegas, he started playing high stake cash games and big buy-in No Limit Holdem Tournaments. Very soon, he built up a big bankroll and a strong reputation for himself as one of the feared player around.

Howard had also been training his sister, Annie Duke and she also moved to Las Vegas in 1994 with her husband to pursue poker full time. They also became the first brother-sister duo to make the same final table at WSOP in 1994.

Though being a regular final table player at the WSOP since 1987, it was not until 2000 that he got his first WSOP Bracelet by $ 5,000 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo. In 2001, Howard Lederer added another WSOP bracelet by winning the $ 5,000 Deuce to Seven event.

John established his presence at WSOP 2002 by cashing in 5 different events, 3 of which he was at the final table and won his first WSOP bracelet in the $ 1,500 Triple Draw Lowball Ace to Five event.

In 2002, he won his first WPT title by winning the $ 10,000 No Limit Hold'em - Main Event that was soon followed by his second WPT title in 2003 when he won the $ 5,000 Limit Hold'em event at the Party Poker Million II.

His biggest win of the career came recently in January 2008, when he won the A$ 100,000 No Limit Hold'em event at the 2008 Aussie Millions Poker Championship for his first million dollar prize.

Money keeps following him in poker tournaments and his tournament winnings have crossed $ 4.9 Million, placing him at number 38th in all time money list.

He is also part of “The Corporation”, which is a group of top high-stakes players in the world who came together to take up billionaire banker Andy Beal in many high-stake heads-up games. Howard Lederer is famous for winning $9.3 Million for “The Corporation” from Andy Beal

He currently lives in Las Vegas with his son and wife Suzie and is an integral part of Full Tilt Poker from the start.

He is a regular at many TV poker shows as an expert and a commentator. He has launched He has also launched an instructional poker video called "Secrets of No Limit Hold'em."

He operates the Howard Lederer Poker Fantasy Camp where people can play and learn from the best poker players.

He is the expert commentator for Full Tilt Poker’s “Learn from the Pros” and Fox Sports Network’s “Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament”.
